August 27, 2010 Update Dear Friends, *SEEK – WELCOME – GROW – EQUIP – SEND* That’s our simple process for helping people move in their lives from sinner to saint. The process is simple and complete. Every step is important for every person. One step in that process we have always done well at CrossBridge is welcoming seeking people into our midst. God has helped us graciously welcome people no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. Thank you to all of you who are so friendly to our guests. Keep up the good work. As we look forward to the future, one of our objectives is to think of ways to be even more welcoming to more people. Whatever methods we might use to welcome people, the most important part of our welcome will always be you. You’re determination to make a new person feel at home is the most important part of a warm welcome at CrossBridge. Just think, we get to welcome people in Jesus name and invite them to grow in faith along with us. How incredible is that? REFLECTIONS The following is a reflection on 1 Peter 5:7, which someone gave me after the message last week: *Cast* (throw, pitch, toss, get rid of, heave…) *All* (not some, not a few, not just the big ones or the small ones) *Your Anxiety* (The “if only’s; the whys; how comes; the but’s, and anything that pecks at my peace) *On Him* (God, Father, Deliverer, Shepherd, Redeemer, Savior, Creator, Refuge, Sustainer, Lord of Life) *Because* (there is a reason) *He Cares* (It’s on God’s radar, it matters to Him, He is invested, This is a matter of God’s Heart) *For You* (Me, Here and now, child of God, me) PRAYER Pray that that the love of God which lives in His people would flourish as we love one another as he has loved us. Our annual day of outdoor fun and fellowship and baptismal service will be Sunday, September 5, again at Creative Themes Park in East Rochester. The cost is $3.00/person $10/family. Please sign up in the CrossBridge cafe for food contributions, clean up, and baptism! baptism class this sunday August 29, Auditorium, after service If you would like to be baptized at our Day in the Park event, please attend this brief baptism class, led by Pete, this Sunday in the auditorium right after the CBYouth Parents’ Meeting. Parents, please attend this meeting with your children desiring baptism. sundays in september Here’s the run-down: September 5 – Day in the Park…no communion service. September 12 – communion service at 9:00 am. September 19 – adult bible fellowships and breakfast club resume at 9:00 am! ministry needs Thanks to Kim Silva who graciously volunteered to be our meals coordinator! We still need, however, someone interested in sending cards to our body who are ill or have lost a loved one… we’d love to hear from you! Please contact the church office if interested in this important, yet not-too-stressful, ministry. Also…..we need a Sunday Cleaner. If you can stay an extra 20 minutes after the morning service (and when most of the folks are finished fellowshipping) to do a spot-clean on the ECF building, we need you! Third Sunday of each month is open! Women’s retreat! This Fall – vote for a date! Please contact the office with your date preference for a fun overnight to Watson Homestead (Painted Post, NY outside of Corning). Please let us know how December 3 and 4 sound to you as well. CrossBridge has a deposit with Watson Homestead for what was originally intended for a leadership retreat. Such is not on the calendar at this time, so the women will take the opportunity! Please check your calendars and consider joining us for an overnight outing of fellowship and relaxation with one another. Cost is $63.50 for one overnight and 3 meals on Saturday. If folks want to sleep two per bed, then the cost will be cheaper! Let us know what’s dates are best for you! FINAL THOUGHTS And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
